Beautiful Getaway Spot

"Heavitree Bed and Breakfast is a beautifully restored 18th century tavern. The details in the house are incredible and the workmanship that went into it is flawless. It is immaculately clean and has all the modern conveniences needed for a comfortable stay. Charlotte, the owner, is a perfectly charming host. She was warm, welcoming, and accommodating. A comfy bed, beautiful linens and amazing grounds made this a delightful stay.
I highly recommend this beautiful Inn. My husband and I will definitely be back."

The History of Heavitree B&B

The family of Charlotte Geer, proprietor of the Heavitree Bed and Breakfast, immigrated from Heavitree, England in 1635 and settled on a plot of farmland in 1700. The name of the bed and breakfast pays homage to that fact.

The original structure that has since become the Heavitree Bed and Breakfast was originally a 17th century tavern located in Rhode Island that was scheduled to be torn down to make room for new construction. It just so happened that Charlotte was looking for a historic farmhouse to compliment her family's historic farmland. The tavern is the fruit of over two years of searching.

Working with a specialist in historic structure dismantling and rebuilding, Charlotte was able to bring over the saltbox style tavern from Rhode Island to the family farm, a painstaking process that cost much time, money, and effort for all involved.

Once this labor of love was finally completed, Charlotte began collecting 18th century antiques to furnish her new home. She eventually managed to fill the entire house with period appropriate furniture, decorations, and hardware. She even has antiques built by her very own ancestors in her home. She believes that, "The house should suit the land, and the furnishings should suit the house." Her visitors all agree that visiting the Heavitree Bed and Breakfast is akin to stepping 300 years into the past.

There are twelve rooms, including 4 bedrooms, 3 of which have a private bathroom. There's even central air, WiFi, large rooms for private parties, an 18th century Parlor Room, Dining Room, Keeping Room, Tap Room, and a Great Room. The restored farmhouse now totals 4,780 square feet.

Charlotte's guests enjoy relaxing by one of several fireplaces built out of original Rhode Island stone and sampling her scrumptious breakfasts, which she makes fresh for her guests each morning.

If you ever get the chance to visit this special historic building, don't let it slip by! It's a special place you won't soon forget.
